A
t first glance, Ive comes across as a regular science student. She has her Bachelor of Science from The McMaster University and is currently working towards her Master’s degree in Science Communication. Her life almost looks ordinary but one step into her world and suddenly you’re taken into a wonderland, one you do not want to escape from.
The magic of her work is that she breaks down the myths and misconceptions that are all around us. There is no subject she really shies away from. If you’ve ever wondered “Why is candy crush so addictive?”, “Do birds pee?”, “Why do emojis look like that?”, “Do fish have tongues?”, “Why redheads can’t tan?” and everything encompassing “Freud, the father of psychology was wrong about” - then her YouTube channel is for you! She will give you all the facts.
The extraordinary work of Ive also lies in much courage. She talks about the pain and the injustices in the world. As the host and producer of her podcast “Science Sucks”, she has interviewed more than 30 experts, tackling subjects such as:
-
How to make science more inclusive
-
How to support women in science
-
How to use social media like a scientist
-
Improving lives through speech and language therapy, and many more.
At the heart of it all, this smart, courageous, goofy, creative, science student is making us fall in love with science.
